RHOWCH GROESO CYNNES I…/ WELCOME TO WALES’ PREMEX 13
Cardiff is a city built on exporting coal to the World, so the Cardffrinj Festival is importing the World’s finest Colliery Band from the cool-fields of Hackney.
Following live work with the late and great Amy Winehouse and an appearance on Huey of the Fun Lovin’ Criminals BBC Radio 6 show, they’re coming to Cardiff and you will dance.
“HCB” are rightly celebrated as the only fully live band to play at the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics.
David Arnold, Musical Director of the ceremony, said the band played : ‘with wit, exuberance, musical dexterity and good humour…’. Tidy.
Hackney Colliery’s influences are as diverse as the London borough that gave them their name, and they’ll be playing a fair few well-known tunes from their album ‘Common Decency’. Let the Ffrinj Festival begin!
*** Fe fydd Gareth Bonello, sef The Gentle Good hefyd yn chwarae traciau o’i albym newydd, sef “Y Bardd Anfarwol” ***
Hefyd JAMIE BEVAN, arwr ein cenedl a’n hiaith
+ Newport’s own Joe Kelly, troubadour extraordinaire in the Townes Van Zandt / Steve Earle tradition
